Algisite Dressing – An Easy Way to Faster Healing

Dressing is an effective way to promote healing and prevent further harm to a wound, and is a commonly used medical term when you are talking about first aid and nursing. Alginate wound dressing, also referred as Algisite Dressing, is a category of absorbent wound dressing that can be applied on a variety of wound types that have a large amount of exudate, such as diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers, cavity wounds, venous wounds, and some bleeding wounds. Derived from seaweed, it can be placed directly into the wound in dry form, where it works by absorbing exudate to form a hydrophilic gel while creating and maintaining optimal moisture balance in the wound.
ALGISITE M dressing and ALGISITE AG dressing are the two of the most popular alginate wound dressings. Both these calcium alginate dressings work best with moderate to heavy exudate wounds. While the former is made from calcium salt of alginic acid rich in mannuronic acid, the latter is an absorbent type 1 calcium alginate dressing impregnated with silver.
